This project intends to address the gaps by increasing access to sanitation facilities, access to
adequate clean water and community based hygiene and sanitation promotion programmes for 12,000 beneficiaries including returnees, IDPs and host communities in Kismayu city through rehabilitation of
water points, construction of latrines, and hygiene promotion activities thereby creating enabling environment for reintegration.
Outcome
●Increased access to safe and clean water for both returnees and host communities in Kismayo.
●Increased accessible, private, secure, clean, culturally appropriate and gender sensitive latrines/toilets
Reduced cases of reported AWD and diseases as a result of poor hygiene and sanitation practices.
●Strengthened community awareness on the proper hygiene and sanitation practices by the targeted communities.
